About The Project

A few years ago I was asked to decorate a ceiling tile for an X-ray room at Archbold Hospital’s Radiology Department.  I painted a bright, cheery tile and it was installed above an x ray machine.  Other young “artist’s” tiles were installed in various ceilings throughout the department.  These were met with many positive patient comments.  Patients often noted that they enjoyed seeing the tiles and were comforted by viewing them during procedures.

Recently, I heard that the biopsy suite at the Women’s Imaging Center could benefit from some color.  I thought of producing a flowered field of ceiling tiles for the suite to enhance relaxation and comfort to patients undergoing biopsy procedures.

The room was surveyed, mapped, and measured. “Test” tiles were painted to arrive at color, style and scale preferences.  A budget was established. A timeline was set to allow completion of the project and presentation to the community during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Presentations were made to Archbold Hospital administration and supportive community members.

Young artists were recruited to paint tiles at two painting sessions at the Thomasville Center for the Arts.  The tiles were installed and the project unveiled during Breast Cancer Awareness Month on October 23, 2014.

In addition to a beautiful project, almost $5000 was raised for local breast cancer patients.

The first Tranquility Project has been completed.  A new project is in the works and will be presented at Archbold Hospital’s “Pink Affair” October 23, 2015.

Thank you for your support!
